CKRSD Digital Archive

CKRSD Digital Archive was created in a view to document social history of the Koch Rajbanshi community of South Asia. The process was started in 2012, with the help of IISH, who morally supported the initiative.  This initiative is an ongoing a process. At present the archive contains rare video Interviews of various scholars, writers and activists from the Koch Rajbanshi community, digitized copies of rare publications, pamphlet and Memorandum etc.  Limited digitized documents are available for access.

CKRSD Library

CKRSD Library contains most of the rare books on issues of Koch Rajbongshis of South Asia. The categories of the collection include History, Political, Economical and literature.  Some of these collections are very rare and are not available in any other library. These books have been collected from various parts of South Asia by making visits to those areas.  In many occasions, well wishers has come forward and donated books and publications to CKRSD library. The library is open in all working days on prior appointment.

The history of India has so far remained the exclusive domain of the elites, composed mainly of the Upper Caste. Had the Subalterns penned down their own experience, today the face of India’s history would have be a different one, as the poem expressed above.

What makes poet like Nabadwip Chandra Roy Barma praise the British? If a half-thinking Indian reads this poem, he might get furious on the Rajbanshis. However poem like this is an act of opposition on the ‘great civilization’ that India, over the years has falsely boosted itself to be. In fact, many depressed classes like the Rajbanshis in North-Bengal saw the British Raj as liberators, mainly from the treachery and hegemony of the Upper Caste Hindus.Full Story

Telengana wave gives fresh breath to KPP, KLO for Kamtapur movement

SILIGURI: Stringent government pressure and tactical political activities, under both of these, the fierce movement of Kamtapur Peoples Party(KPP) and militant organization Kamtapur Liberation Organization(KLO) for separate Kamtapur state comprising northern Plains of West Bengal went low key a decade back. Won’t tolerate any separatist movement: Bengal CM

SILIGURI: Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee made it clear on Monday that the government would not tolerate any separatist movement in the state and would deal with any such movement strictly.
While delivering her speech during the inauguration of Uttarkanya, the secretariat for north Bengal at Siliguri, Mamata Banerjee went hammer and tongs at the Kamtapur People’s Party (KPP) and Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) charging the outfits of provoking Rajbanshi youths in the name of recognition of Rajbanshi language.
